FARMVILLE,Va. -- This Friday, Veterans Day, the Longwood University Lancers will be hosting Navy for their first game of the season. To honor local veterans, the Longwood Student Veterans and the Longwood Athletic Department will be offering free admission to veterans. Veterans need to bring some kind of military identification to the ticket booth in Willett Hall on Longwood's campus to receive a ticket. Along with free admission, veterans will also receive t-shirts on a first-come, first-served basis. Food will also be provided to veterans by the Longwood Student Veterans and the Lancer Club. At 7:00pm, there will be a guest speaker from the Virginia Wounded Warrior Project immediately followed by tip-off.
Longwood's recently inaugurated president, Brigadier General Patrick Finnegan, had this to say about the game, “We are pleased to be able to salute our veterans on Veterans Day through special recognition at the first men's basketball game this year. We are glad we have this special opportunity to thank them for their service in front of our enthusiastic fans. We hope their presence will help spur the Lancers on to their first victory of the season!”
Willett Hall is located on Spruce St. off of Redford St. across from McDonald's on the south end of Longwood's Campus. Parking is available anywhere on campus except in designated loading areas. If special assistance or accommodations are needed, please contact Eric Stoller at (434) 395-2138.
