BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Longwood University women's basketball team fell at Campbell University of the Big South Conference 48-33 on Tuesday afternoon in Buies Creek, North Carolina. Senior Brittanni Billups|Goldsboro, N.C. (Eastern Wayne) paced the Lancers (1-4) with nine points and 11 rebounds, while Tonisha Baker scored a game-high 13 points with 11 rebounds for the Camels (4-0). Longwood returns to action on Sunday, November 27, when it faces the ninth-ranked University of Miami at 2 p.m. in Coral Gables, Florida.

Campbell led 11-4 with 13:11 remaining in the first half, but the Lancers answered with a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 11-10 with 11:33 remaining. Junior Mieke Elkington|Hamilton, New Zealand (Cochise College) and senior Mina Jovanovic|Smederevska Palanka, Serbia (Salt Lake CC) hit a pair of jumpers, then junior Erin Neal|Durham, N.C. (Hillside) added a pair of free throws during the run. Jovanovic added two more baskets to lead the Lancers with six points at halftime as Longwood trailed 20-16.

The Camels extended the lead to 24-16 with 18:40 remaining in the game, but a pair of jumpers by Billups and a three-pointer by Elkington trimmed the lead to one at 24-23 with 15:30 remaining. A layup by Baker pushed the Campbell lead back to 27-23 with 13:36 remaining, but a three-pointer by junior Chelsea Coward|Mechanicsville (Hanover) cut the lead to one at 27-26 with 13:19 remaining. The Camels went on an 8-0 run to extend the lead to 35-26 with 9:52 remaining. Billups made a layup with 6:36 remaining to cut the lead to six at 37-31, but it would be the last points the Lancers would score from the floor as Campbell went on an 11-2 run to end the game.

Longwood shot 22% (13-59) from the floor, including 18.2% (2-11) from behind the arc, and 45.5% (5-11) from the foul line. Billups scored nine points (4-12 FG, 1-2 FT), while Neal added eight points (2-9 FG, 4-7 FT) and Jovanovic scored six points (3-11 FG, 0-2 FT) with eight rebounds. Coward (2-8 FG) and Elkington (2-7 FG) scored five points each. Junior Crystal Smith|Richmond (Meadowbrook) dished out a team-best four assists. The Lancers recorded nine steals, including a game-high four by Neal. Both teams had 16 turnovers.

Campbell shot 30.2% (19-63) from the floor, including 26.3% (5-19) from behind the arc, and 55.6% (5-9) from the foul line. Baker scored 13 points (5-12 FG, 2-3 FT) with 11 rebounds, and Roslyn Presley added seven points (2-4 FG, 3-5 FT) and seven rebounds. Kate Cloxton scored six points (2-13 FG, 2-9 3FG) with a game-high six assists. The Camels out-rebounded Longwood 50-46 and scored 11 second chance points.

Campbell leads the all-time series 5-3, including 4-0 in games played in Buies Creek.
