LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Longwood University posted 967 points to finish 34th among 35 teams Saturday at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships at the E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.  The University of Virginia took first place with 107 points, and University of North Carolina runner Kendra Schaaf was the individual winner with her time of 19:52, while junior Alisha Royal|Vinton (William Byrd) led the Lancers with her new school-record and personal-best time of 22:21  over the 6000-meter course.  It's the second school-record that she has established this fall along with her 5K time of 18:22.  Longwood will compete in the ECAC Championships hosted by the Eastern College Athletic Conference on Saturday, November 19, at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York beginning at 11 a.m.
   
Longwood was led by Royal who placed 100th among 246 runners with her record time that bettered the previous record of 22:40 set by Kristin Novara in 2006.  She was followed by senior Jessica Alley|New Castle (Craig County) (24:10, 209th), freshman Brittany Foote|Goshen, N.Y. (Goshen) (24:43, 221st), sophomore Crystal Baxley|Virginia Beach (First Colonial) (25:52, 232nd), junior Megan Short|Sicklerville, N.J. (Timber Creek) (26:34, 235th), and sophomore Emberli McGann|Stuarts Draft (Stuarts Draft) (28:07, 240th).  Alley posted the 10th-fastest 6K in the program's history, while Foote was making her collegiate debut for the Lancers.
   
Following Virginia among the top-10 were North Carolina State (113), North Carolina (133), Clemson (147), Duke (178), Virginia Tech (199), UNC Greensboro (211), James Madison (284), William and Mary (344), and Charlotte (352).
