BOONE, N.C. -- Longwood University posted 457 points in women's cross country to finish 18th among 21 teams Friday at the Blue Ridge Open hosted by Appalachian State University at the ASU State Farm Fields in Boone, North Carolina. Furman University took first place with 56 points, and Nicole Irving of Wake Forest University was the individual winner with her time of 17:43, while junior
Alisha Royal|Vinton (William Byrd) led the Lancers for the fourth-straight race with her time of 18:47 over the 5000-meter course. Longwood will now be idle for about a month before participating in the NCAA Southeast Regional hosted by the University of Louisville on November 12 in Kentucky beginning at 11 a.m.
Longwood was led by Royal who placed 13th among 177 runners with her time (18:47) that ties as the fourth-best in school history; she already owns the two fastest 5K times (18:22, 18:23). Royal was followed by senior
