Antwan Carter|St. Petersburg, Fla. (St. Petersburg) with 16 points in just 21 minutes before fouling out with 10:57 remaining. The Buffaloes (7-3) won their fifth-straight game while led by Cory Higgins with a game-high 18 points. It was a second-round game of the 2010 iBN Sports|Las Vegas Classic as Longwood remains on the road while returning to action in the four-game exempt tournament on Wednesday, December 22, against SIU Edwardsville at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Longwood started well at Colorado while scoring the first basket of the game on a layup by Carter and matching the first three scores for an early 6-6 tie at 17:27 as Carter scored twice and junior transfer
Jeremiah Bowman|Washington, D.C. (Harcum JC) made a layup too. The Buffaloes used a 10-2 run to lead 16-8 at 14:10 after a couple of dunks from Alec Burks. The Lancers battled back to within 16-12 at 13:19 after another layup from Carter who scored eight of the team's first 12 points, and totaled 14 points in the first half. CU, however, responded with 16 unanswered points to take control with a 32-12 advantage at 8:08 with points from five different players. The hosts rolled into halftime with a 47-26 lead behind 6-8 three-point field goal shooting during the first half.
Longwood closed to within 54-33 with 17:07 left following a pair of jumpers by Bowman, though it would be as close as the guests would get during the second half. It was 64-42 at 13:09 after another layup down low from Carter but he would soon leave the game with five fouls with 10:57 on the clock. Colorado built the lead to 30 points at 73-43 at 11:25 on a three-point play by Higgins, and the Buffaloes were ahead by 40-plus points at 94-53 with 5:30 left on a dunk from Andre Roberson. The hosts had their largest advantage with the game's final basket, a layup by Ben Mills with 38-seconds on the clock.
Carter led Longwood with his 16 points in only 21 minutes before fouling out with nearly 11 minutes on the clock. Bowman finished with 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists for the Lancers. LU shot 38.3% (23-60) from the field, including 22.2% (4-18) on three-pointers, and 64.3% (9-14) at the free throw line. Longwood played without starting guard, redshirt-junior

Higgins led Colorado with his game-high 18 points, including 15 points in the second half. Levi Knutson finished with 17 points off the bench for the Buffaloes. Burks had 15 points, Roberson contributed a double-double of 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds off the bench, Marcus Relphorde had 14 points, and Austin Dufault added 12 points. CU shot 52.8% (38-72) from the field, including 58.8% (10-17) on three-pointers, and 78.3% (18-23) at the line. The Buffaloes' bench outscored Longwood 45-14.
It was the first-ever meeting between the two schools in the sport of men's basketball.
