CARY, N.C. -- Longwood University women's cross country posted 130 points to finish fourth among 11 teams Friday at the Great America Cross Country Festival ran at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. Navy took first place with 27 points, led by individual winner Jess Palacio (17:35), while the Lancers were led by junior Jessica Alley|New Castle (Craig County) with her time of 19:40 over the 5000 meter course for 20th-place individually in the field of 100. Longwood will compete again on October 15 at the Panorama Farms Invitational hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

Following Alley for Longwood were freshman Ciara Mading|King George (King George)?(19:55, 22nd), sophomores Megan Short|Erial, N.J. (Timber Creek) (20:38, 39th) and Jenna Sprinkle|Buchanan (James River) (20:49, 43rd), along with freshman Emberli McGann|Stuarts Draft (Stuarts Draft) (23:02, 71st). Also running was freshman Nicole Cunningham-Grandy|Midlothian (James River) (23:24, 74th).

Following Navy in the team results among the top five were North Carolina State (43), UNC?Pembroke (123), LU, and The Citadel (132).
