COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Longwood University dropped a 106-55 men's basketball road decision at the University of Maryland of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Tuesday night at the Comcast Center in College Park, Maryland. The Lancers (4-15) were led by redshirt-senior
Dana Smith/Woodbridge (C.D. Hylton) with a season-high and game-high 25 points. The Terrapins (12-5) were led by Sean Mosley with 21 points to lead six double-figure scorers for the hosts. Longwood will play again this Saturday, January 23, on the road again at fellow Independent Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia beginning at 2 p.m..
Longwood and Maryland were tied early at 2-2 just 29-seconds into the contest after a layup by senior

The Terrapins, however, used a 23-4 run to lead 25-6 at 14:00 after a jumper by Landon Milbourne who scored 11 quick points, and the hosts never looked back while rolling to a 57-30 halftime advantage. The second half was more of the same as Maryland led by as many as 53 points late while maintaining an advantage of at least 40 points over the final 7:00.
Smith led Longwood with his season-high and game-high 25 points, including 16 points in the second half. Sophomore
Antwan Carter/St. Petersburg, Fla. (St. Petersburg) had eight points off the bench for the Lancers, while Swecker added seven points. LU shot 29% (20-68) from the field, including 17% (4-23) on three-point field goals, and 65% (11-17) at the free throw line.
Mosley led Maryland with his 21 points, and Milbourne finished with 19 points. Jordan Williams had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Terrapins for a double-double. Eric Hayes, Greivis Vasquez, and James Padgett each added 10 points. UM shot 56% (40-72) from the field, including 30% (3-10) on three-pointers, and 72% (23-32) at the line. It was the first-ever meeting between the two schools in men's basketball.
