Dana Smith/Woodbridge (C.D. Hylton) with 11 points. The Hokies (11-1) were led by freshman Erick Green with a game-high 15 points off the bench. Longwood will play again this Saturday, January 2, on the road at Colgate University of the Patriot League in Hamilton, New York beginning at 2 p.m..
Virginia Tech scored the first seven points of the game and never looked back, leading by as many as 25 points (43-18) late in the opening half before a buzzer-beating three-point field goal from near midcourt by junior
Ian Persaud/Landover, Md. (Prince George's CC) made it 43-21 at the intermission. The Hokies continued to build their advantage in the second half, leading by as many as 39 points at 66-27 with 12:04 remaining, and hosts didn't finish until a deep three-pointer at the buzzer by walk-on Paul Debnam, after which he made sure those fans remaining saw his jersey number.

Antwan Carter/St. Petersburg, Fla. (St. Petersburg) grabbed eight rebounds in 15 minutes off the bench before fouling out. LU shot 26% (18-70) from the field, including 33% (5-15) on three-pointers, and 69% (9-13) at the free throw line.
Green led Virginia Tech with his game-high 15 points off the bench, adding four assists. Jeff Allen had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Hokies. Dorenzo Hudson added 11 points, and Ben Boggs had 10 points off the bench as well. VT shot 59% (30-51) from the field, including 33% (2-6) on three-pointers, and 56% (23-41) at the line. The Hokies now lead the series between the two schools at 2-0, including last season's 79-57 win at Cassell Coliseum.
