FARMVILLE, Va. - Longwood University men's soccer defender Patrick McDaniel/Midlothian (Cosby) has been named the Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) Rookie of the Week for games through October 4. He scored his first career goal in Longwood's 2-1 win over the University of Richmond on Saturday night. McDaniel and the Lancers return to action on Wednesday, October 7, in Charlottesville when they take on 12th-ranked University of Virginia at 7 p.m..

McDaniel scored the game-winning goal in the 87th minute, a header into the upper-right corner, to give Longwood a 2-1 lead. His goal came on his only shot of the game. He has four shots this season with two shots on goal. He is one of two freshman to start every match this season.
