FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University will host Big South Conference member Gardner-Webb University in men's basketball Tuesday night, November 18, at 7 p.m. in Willett Hall on-campus in Farmville.  The Lancers and Bulldogs last met over 13 years ago in January of 1995.  Longwood is coached by sixth-year head coach Mike Gillian, and will be led by 6-1, 205-pound senior guard Ryan Bogan who is averaging 16.5 points and 5.5 rebounds.  Gardner-Webb (0-1) is coached by 21st-year head coach Rick Scruggs and is led by 6-0 junior guard Grayson Flittner (21.0 points, 8.0 rebounds).  Tickets will be available at the Willett Hall Ticket Window, or by calling 434.395.2138.

Series History
Longwood and Gardner-Webb are meeting for the eighth-time in the sport of men's basketball, though for the first time since January 16, 1995 when both programs were still members of NCAA Division II.  The Lancers lead the series at 4-3 with three-straight wins, including the most-recent 84-80 victory in North Carolina (1.16.95).  The Bulldogs won the first-ever meeting between the two schools back on December 5, 1990, defeating Longwood 79-77 in double-overtime here in Farmville.

A Look At Gardner-Webb
Gardner-Webb brings a record of 0-1 into tonight's contest after a 65-62 road loss at Virginia Tech last Friday (11.14).  The Bulldogs are coached by 21st-year veteran head coach Rick Scruggs (Georgia '79; 356-296).  Gardner-Webb finished 16-16 a year ago as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, though the Bulldogs are now members of the Big South this year.  GWU is led by the backcourt duo of junior Grayson Flittner (6-0, 200) and senior Aaron Linn (6-3, 200), and junior Auryn MacMillan (6-8, 235).  Flittner had 21 points and eight rebounds at Tech, while Linn added 13 points and six rebounds, and MacMillan had 12 points and nine rebounds.

A Look At Longwood
Longwood brings a record of 1-1 into tonight's contest after an 81-74 home loss to Norfolk State on Sunday (11.16) following an 87-44 home win past NAIA Virginia-Wise last Friday (11.14).  The Lancers were led by senior captain Ryan Bogan with 20 points, redshirt-junior captain Dana Smith with 16 points and a career-high 11 rebounds, and junior Kevin Swecker with 11 points against NSU.  Freshman Martiz Washington led LU against UVA-Wise with 15 points in 18 minutes off the bench, including a dizzying 10 points during a brief 1:24 span in the second half, followed by sophomore Durann Neil (14), Bogan (13) and Smith (10).

Home Sweet Home
Longwood is now 22-16 at home in Willett Hall over the past three-plus years, including a 7-5 record in Farmville during 2007-08.  The Lancers were 8-4 at the facility during 2005-06 before finishing with a record of 6-6 at home during 2006-07.

The Three-Point Stat
Longwood has now made at least one three-point field goal in 179 consecutive games, dating back to November 26, 2002 at Lenoir-Rhyne (W 72-68), including a high of 16 three-pointers last season against Campbell on January 15, 2008 (L 82-80) at home in Willett Hall.
