OREM, Utah -- Longwood University dropped a 3-0 women's soccer road decision at United Soccer Conference (USC) opponent Utah Valley University Saturday afternoon in Orem, Utah. The Lancers have completed the regular season with a record of 8-7-2 overall, 3-1-1 in the USC; the Wolverines record is now 10-5-1, 5-0-0 in the USC. Longwood will host the 2008 USC Tournament scheduled for November 1-3 at the Athletics Complex in Farmville; further game details for the event will be released on Monday.
Longwood trailed 1-0 at the intermission before Utah Valley added two more goals in the second half. Scoring goals for the host Wolverines were Katey Turner (42:13), Camille Broderick (53:26), and Jennifer Lohner (63:38). Turner's goal came just before halftime, assisted by Nicole Archibald, while Lohner was assisted by Jenni Clough -- Broderick tallied her goal unassisted.
Utah Valley took a 22-4 advantage in shots, including 12-2 in attempts on-goal, while the Wolverines had a 6-3 edge in corner kicks. Redshirt-sophomore keeper
Marcia Biddle/Woodbridge (Gar-Field) played the duration in front of the net for Longwood with eight saves, and the Lancers were credited with one team stop. Mallory Schott (67:24) and Kelley Thompson (22:36) split time in goal for the hosts with one save each. UVU now leads the series against LU at 2-1 since first playing last season.
