Men's tennis sophomore Alfonso Castellano picked up his first No. 1 singles win of the spring, sweeping Coastal Carolina ace Vuk Velickovic 6-4, 7-5. The win came in the Big South opener for the 5-9, 150-pound Castellano, who spent the bulk of his freshman campaign playing at Longwood's No. 2 and No. 3 spots.

Castellano improved to 2-2 on the competition season and 9-2 overall under first-year head coach Pierre Tafelski. Castellano and the Lancers bring their spring-opening four-game road swing to a close Saturday at Christopher Newport before returning to Farmville for the home opener against rival Liberty on March 2.
