FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University women’s lacrosse senior standout Lauren Prasnicki/Lexington has been named the Longwood Female ARMS Software Athlete of the Week. The attacker led the Lancers to a 23-3 victory against Delaware State University on February 16 in the squad’s only game last week. In that outing, she logged seven assists and a pair of goals. Through two games, she is tied for first on the team with 10 total points. After setting the program record for single-season assists (51) in 2013, Prasnicki is currently fourth all-time with 76 career assists.

Question and Answer Session with Lauren Prasnicki and Travis Lyles

TL: What does receiving Athlete of the Week mean to you?
LP: It’s a big honor to me because it’s awesome to be recognized for your athletic achievements on the field.

TL: How did it feel to get such a big win at home this past Sunday?
LP: It was so great because after the loss against Navy, it was good for us to come out and show our real talent. We showed that we do have potential to win. A lot of people scored so that is a plus.

TL: You led the team in points with 77 this past season and set a school record with 51 assists. What does that mean to you?
LP: I love my role as the assister and I love helping my team out. It was a huge honor because people want to score, but no one really wants to assist and I am proud to be that person.

TL: You have a big game against Virginia Tech coming up. What would it mean to the program to come out with a win?
LP: I would classify Tech as one of our biggest rivals, so it would mean a lot. We haven’t beaten them in my career, so in my last chance I’d love to get a win.

TL: You are now a senior, a captain and a leader on the team. What is it like to be in that role?
LP: I really enjoy being in the role of a leader because I was able to [be a captain] last year and I learned a lot. I love leading by example and doing everything I can to help us win.

TL: What will you look forward to the most this year?
LP: I would love to beat Jacksonville over spring break, so definitely that game. I personally took that loss heavy (in 2012) because they came in as a new program and were very good.

TL: Who are you the closest to on the team?
LP: Definitely the two other seniors because we have become so tight over our careers.   Through living together and playing together, they are some of my best friends.

TL: If you could trade places with anyone in the athletics department for a day, who would it be?
LP: Probably (Athletics Director) Troy Austin. I would love to know what it is like to be in his shoes for a day and be in charge of so much.

TL: Who is your role model?
LP: My little brother. He plays lacrosse at VMI and he has shaped me into who I am today. Even though he is younger, he has taught me so much.

TL: What are your plans for after graduation?
LP: I am going to take a gap year and apply to occupational therapy school in 2015.

TL: What is your favorite movie?
LP: Billy Madison. I like basically anything with Adam Sandler.

TL: Favorite music artist?
LP: I am a big country girl, so definitely Luke Bryan.
