What is the Lancer Club?

The Lancer Club is an organization through which alumni, parents, friends, faculty and businesses can provide vital financial support to the student-athletes which comprise the 14 Intercollegiate Athletic programs at Longwood University.  Your gifts to the Lancer Club aid our student-athletes in succeeding both academically, as well as on the field of competition.

How is my gift used?

The money generated from the Lancer Club helps with the following:

Student-athlete scholarships – the # of scholarships awarded to student-athletes has risen from 43.2 in 2002-03 to over 99 for 2007-2008 due to our transition to Division I and the need to keep up with an increased quality of competition.

Team traveling expenses – teams are traveling more often and further distances to compete against the best Division I programs in the country (ex. In 2006-2007 teams traveled to Nevada, Arizona, Florida, New Mexico, California, Ohio, New Jersey, Connecticut, Indiana, South Carolina, and Delaware).

Athletic resources and equipment – our athletic programs are constantly in need of new team uniforms, warm-ups, sport specific equipment, medical treatment equipment, etc.

NO STATE MONEY CAN BE USED FOR ATHLETIC-RELATED EXPENSES

Membership into the Lancer Club means you are not only supporting Lancer Athletics, but you are now part of the team.

Matching Gift – Many companies will match your donation to Longwood University dollar-for-dollar, or even more; you receive credit for both your gift and your employer’s match.  Simply contact your company’s personnel office and submit their matching gift form to Longwood University and we’ll take care of the rest.
