Longwood Places 36th At NCAA Southeast Regional



CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Longwood University posted 1,018 points in women's cross country to finish 36th among 37 teams at the 2012 NCAA Southeast Regional Cross Country Championships on Friday at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Duke University won the team title with 81 points, while Cally Macumber of the University of Kentucky was the individual race winner with her time of 20:10 over the 6K course.  The Lancers were led by senior Alisha Royal|Vinton (William Byrd) with her new school-record 6K time of 22:02 to place 70th among the field of 255 competitors.  Longwood has now completed its 2012 team campaign.
  
Royal ran 19-seconds faster than her own previous 6K record of 22:21 posted at last year's regional, and was followed across the finish line by junior Crystal Baxley|Virginia Beach (First Colonial) (25:17, 235th), sophomore Elisabeth Drake|Hayes (Gloucester) (25:22, 238th), senior Rebecca Denny|Virginia Beach (Kempsville) (26:20, 249th), sophomore Brittany Foote|Goshen, N.Y. (Goshen) (26:41, 250th), along with seniors Megan Short|Sicklerville, N.J. (Timber Creek) (27:38, 252nd) and Jenna Sprinkle|Buchanan (James River) (27:56, 254th).
