Prior to Longwood, Lindenmuth served as an Athletic Communications Assistant at NC State, serving as the primary contact for the nationally-ranked swimming & diving, men's tennis and gymnastics programs. He also served as a secondary contact for the Wolfpack men's and women's basketball programs, assisting with game stories and video content while also helping with football during his stint.

He began his career in collegiate athletics at Duke University as a sports information staff assistant, where he was the primary contact for the men's tennis team. The 2012-13 squad advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals and finished seventh in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings.

Lindenmuth graduated from Penn State in May 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in journalism. At Penn State, he worked a semester as an intern for ESPN Radio in State College, Pa.
