Chase Hughes was hired as an assistant coach for the Longwood baseball team in June 2026 and is in his first season with the Lancers.
Hughes spent the 2026 season at Wofford as the director of player development, helping the Terriers to a 34-22 overall record, including a 12-9 mark in the Southern Conference.
“We are incredibly excited to add Chase to our baseball staff,” said Noe. “He brings a wealth of high-level knowledge and experience on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Throughout his time in college baseball, he has worked alongside outstanding coaching staffs at Clemson and Wofford, two of the premier programs in the country. Those experiences have helped shape him into a bright young coach with a tremendous future in this profession. He is going to immediately make our players and program better, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him to the Longwood baseball family.”
Hughes worked the 2024 and 2025 seasons as a graduate assistant with the Clemson baseball team. He assisted with operational and on-field aspects, along with preparing opponent scouting reports. He developed individualized player plans using 643 Charts, Blast Motion, Trackman and Synergy. In addition, he works with Team Elite Baseball based in Winder, Ga.
“I am super excited to join the staff at Longwood University,” Hughes said. “I am very thankful for the opportunity and I am looking forward to working for coach Noe and with the incredible staff here at Longwood.”
