Biography

131842018: The reigning Big South Defensive Player of the Year and the favorite to repeat in 2018, according to the Big South Preseason Coaches Poll...a true anchor of the backfield unit, having started 41 consecutive games and played nearly 4,000 consecutive minutes heading into her senior season...a strong and disciplined defender who meets the ball at the point of attack.

2017: Selected by the Big South coaches as the top defensive player in the conference, earning the Big South Defensive Player of the Year award...the first Lancer to earn that award since Longwood joined the conference in 2012…the first non-goalkeeper to win the award since 2011, and only the second in Big South history…also named All-Big South for the second straight year, earning first team honors in 2017…the anchor of a defensive unit that posted the most shutouts (11) and the lowest goals against average (0.55) in the Big South…held Longwood’s opponents to one or fewer goals in all but two games…never allowed more than two goals in a game all season…helped Longwood hold opponents to a .446 shots-on-goal percentage, the second lowest in the conference…played every minute of the season, leading the team with 1,972 minutes on the pitch…extended a streak of 41 consecutive starts and 3,833 consecutive minutes played…put together four different 110-minute performances on the season…engineered back-to-back shutouts in the first two rounds of the Big South Championship, blanking Charleston Southern 3-0 in the quarterfinals and No. 2 seed Liberty 2-0 in the semifinals…also scored a goal – the fifth of her career – in a 3-0 win against Charleston Southern (10/27)…dished an assist in that same game…helped Longwood post four shutouts in conference play…a Presidential Honor Roll selection…also named the Longwood Female Athlete of the Year at the annual Student Athlete Awards Banquet.
 
2016: Anchored Longwood’s backline and emerged as one of the top defenders in the Big South…earned All-Big South first team honors, one of only two underclassmen in the conference to appear on the first team…started all 20 games and played every minute of the season, totaling 1,861 minutes…tied for the team lead with four goals…the fulcrum of a Longwood defense that surrendered the fewest goals and goals per game in the Big South and registered eight shutouts, including seven in conference play…scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Presbyterian (10/25)...a Big South Presidential Honor Roll selection.

2015: Named to the Big South All-Freshman Team after starting 16 of 19 games on the backline…an impact player as a freshman, amassing 1,322 minutes for the sixth most on the team and the most among her freshman class…played at least 70 minutes nine times, including six games with at least 90 minutes…played 90-plus minutes in five consecutive games from Sept. 20 to Oct. 7 during which Longwood went 3-1-1 with four shutouts…key piece of a backline that engineered nine shutouts in 2016…dished her first career assist in a 1-0 win against Richmond, opening up fellow freshman Amber Gustafson for the game-winner in the 46th minute…took 19 shots, five of which were on goal.

High School: Four-year letterwinner at Courtland High School…named the Conference 22 Player of the Year as a junior…also earned first team all-district, first team all-region and all-area athlete honors as well as Courtland’s Defensive MVP award…was a three-time first team all-district selection and a two-time first team all-region honoree…earned defensive MVP honors three times as well…named second team all-state as a sophomore.

Born Sydney Nicole Wallace on June 22, 1997…daughter of Roland and Sharon Wallace…has a sister, Miyah, and two brothers, Cameron and Anthony…brother, Anthony, was a member of the track and field program at James Madison.
