Lancer Leadership Program 2011-12

Introduction
The Lancer Leadership Program is a multi-part workshop series that will address the proven techniques of successful leaders. Subject matter will be presented in an hour-and-a-half training session designed to engage student-athletes in the leadership process and provide them a forum to address their issues with peers. The program is directed towards identified upcoming leaders as sophomores and juniors matriculating through their academic career. The Lancer Leadership Program will be a two year commitment designed with a two-tier structure. As students complete their first year there will be added responsibilities, including but not limited to, proscribed community service requirements, a group project, and an opportunity to teach a workshop to their peers.

Vision
To create and sustain a leadership development program that prepares Longwood student-athletes with the skills necessary to be effective leaders on the field, in the classroom, and the community abroad. The program is built around allowing student athletes to develop their leadership skills and character awareness.
 
Mission

Longwood University Athletics will be recognized as a model amongst its peers in the pursuit of academic and athletic excellence through its commitment to champion citizen leaders.  This program will build on their athletic and academic achievements and accelerate their personal and professional growth.
