Competitive Resource Group

The Athletic Department, in conjunction with the Career Center, sponsored an event presented by the Competitive Resource Group (CRG) to educate our student-athletes on several aspects of career development and preparation.  CRG is a niche training/placement firm that works primarily with individuals who have collegiate athletic backgrounds.  These individuals, both current student athletes and experienced candidates looking to make a career change, have developed a unique skill set that many companies desire.  CRG has opportunities available for these candidates in sales, management and financial services.

These athletes have competed at the college level and have proven they have the discipline, tenacity and desire to compete -- and to win!  They have also developed and practiced the valuable team player skills and work ethic to focus their need for success in the work force.  For the entry level candidates, CRG's responsibility is to organize and develop those nonacademic skills as a supplement to those academic ones and create a more valuable candidate to the work force.

Over 100 collegiate athletic departments across the country are actively working with CRG by recommending their athletes to our service, 45 of which are personally visited each year, to help identify talented student athletes.  CRG's personal relationships with these schools allow them to obtain objective evaluations from athletic personnel who have worked with these athletes for several years.  CRG then follows up and conducts personal interviews with those candidates recommended.

The objective of CRG is to act as a bridge between quality degreed athletes finishing their eligibility and businesses looking for candidates who possess the traits found in most athletes.  Most athletes are competitive, focused, results driven, mentally tough, disciplined, team oriented, confident, coachable and know how to overcome adversity.  These traits are most assuredly attractive to businesses.

CRG presented two SCORE presentations.
