Longwood University Athletics 2005 All Sports Camp

All Sports Day Camp

This summer, Longwood University is once again offering an all sports program for those entering K-6. The camp is designed so that children can sample a number of different sports through the instruction of varsity coaches and student athletes. They will ex­perience the fun of learning to play sports in a safe environment and practice new ways of moving and controlling their bodies.

This year, every camper who registers for All Sports camp will also become a member of the Lancer KidsClub and enjoy all the benefits throughout the sports season.

Objectives:

§         To teach young children the basics of all sports and introduce them to a variety of different kinds of sports.

§         To focus on the positive in presenting the various aspects of sports.

§         To create an atmosphere to success, and a desire for personal achievement.

§         To teach life skills through sports.

§         To provide an opportunity for campers to achieve a higher level of confidence in their movement and their lives.

Camp Philosophy

§         All children are athletes.

§         All children can succeed in age appropriate sports.

§         Campers will be encouraged to try new things and explore new ways of doing them.

§         Campers will develop and build skills for individual enjoyment, confidence, and leadership.

There will be a focus placed on swimming in that each child will have a lesson in his or her level group each day.  A lifeguard as well as qualified swimming instructors will be working with the campers every lesson.

Schedule

10:00 am – Sport Rotation

11:00 am – Break and snack

– Sport Rotation

– Lunch & relaxation

– Sports rotation/swimming rotation

– free time/cool down.

General Information…

Food

All campers are expected to bring lunch, drinks, and 2 snacks daily.  Water will be provided throughout each day, all day.

Campers

Campers will arrive each Monday morning at for the initial registration and the remainder of the week.  Camp ends each day at .  If you have spe­cial considerations for leaving or picking up your child, please talk to the staff at registration.

Insurance

Each parent/guardian will be required to sign a release form, which will be sent with confirmation.

Medical/Health

An athletic trainer will be on-call during the camp in case of illness or injury.  The trainer will only administer over-the-counter and/or prescription medications if this serv­ice is requested at registration.  A complete medical form is also required and will be sent with confirmation.

Deposit and Deadlines

A $50 non-refundable deposit must accompany the en­closed application to secure a registration spot.  Deposits are due by June 30and final payment is expected no later than the 1st day of each week of camp.  If space is available, the camp will accept campers after the deadline on a first come basis.  Cost for late registration is $165.

The mandatory medical, parental and university consent forms will be sent via mail after receiving registration or can be filled out online, printed and submitted online
