BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. - Sophomore Matthew Hartley posted an even-par 216 to lead the way for Longwood men's golf at the season-opening Bryan National Collegiate over the weekend at the Bryan Park Golf Course.

Hartley finished in a share of 16th place, collecting a pair of rounds under par. He opened with a 2-under 70 in round one, before shooting a 1-under 71 on Sunday to round out the event. He posted four birdies in each of those rounds. 

As a team, the Lancers finished 12th in the 13-team field, shooting 893 (+29) over the two-day event. Longwood's best round came in the opening 18 as the Lancers shot an even-par 288 to start things off. They fired a 304 in round two and closed out the event with a 301 on Sunday.

Senior Matthew Lyons tallied the best round of the event for a Lancer, shooting a 3-under par 69 in the first round. He totaled five birdies in the opening 18 holes. Lyons wrapped up the event with a 74 (+2) on Sunday and finished in 49th place. He ranked seventh at the event in par 3 scoring (3.00). 

Freshman Harrison Beaudoin shot a 226 (+10) to finish in 62nd place. His best round also came during the opening 18 with a 73 (+1).

Sophomores Parker Brock and Josh Cummins finished in 73rd and 77th, respectively. Brock shot a 231 (+15) with Cummins closely behind at 232 (+16). Brock was seventh at the event in par 5 scoring (4.42), shooting 7-under on par 5s across the three rounds. 

Competing as an individual, sophomore Charlie Spiller fired a 223 (+7) to finish in a share of 55th place. He was eighth in the tournament in total pars with 38. 

Longwood returns to action at the Ironwood Intercollegiate, Sept. 28-29, at the Ironwood Country Club in Greenville, N.C.
