HAMPTON, Va. — The Longwood men's team won its fourth consecutive match Saturday, beating Hampton in comeback fashion, 4-2.
The Pirates took the doubles point and won in No. 2 singles before the Lancers (4-3) roared back to take the dual.
Rufus Plane got Longwood on the scoreboard with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles over Kohei Konish. Timéo Puech followed with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win over Rafael Padilha from the top spot in the lineup to tie the match.
Alejandro Uribe then gave the Lancers the lead with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Benjamin Mwanza at No. 6 and Daniel Lopez clinched, 6-4, 6-3, over Aryan Arora at No. 4.
Hampton (0-5) built its advantage with doubles wins from Arora and Padilha against Plane and Puech, 6-4, at No. 1 and Konishi and Fedorov versus Daniel Borisove and Ninad Raut,, 6-4.
The Pirates made it 2-0 when Fedorov beat Borisov, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 2.
Longwood returns to action Tuesday, March 3, hosting Campbell at 2 p.m.
