WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary defeated the Longwood women's tennis team, 7-0, in non-conference action at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center on Thursday.
The Tribe began the day getting doubles wins on courts one and three from Francesca Davis and Tilda Larsson and Emma Pell Yaelle Vaissaud. The pairs topped Elizaveta Gnilozubova and Feline van Eijkelenburg, 6-1, and Genevieve Dickey and Bali Song, 6-2, respectively.
In singles, Rebeka Svabikova bested Nicole Di Bisceglia at No. 5, 6-2, 6-1, Mira Kernagis defeated Alexandra Magia, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4 and Alexis Gonzalez-Galindo beat Oriana Izarra, 6-0, 6-1, on court six.
Davis then defeated Hima Fernando, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 3 while Larsson beat van Eijkelenburg, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 2.
Song took Sia Chaudry to three sets on court one. Chaudry won the first set, 6-4, before Song evened the match with a 6-3 win in the second. Chaudry prevailed, however, in a third-set tiebreaker, 10-6.
William & Mary improved to 6-2 on the year with the win and Longwood fell to 2-3 overall in the loss.
The Lancers are back on the road Saturday at Hampton at 1 p.m.
