Double Play with Spooky Slugfest, Battle of Farmville

Back-to-Back Events at Buddy Bolding Stadium on October 23-24

FARMVILLE, Va. – Buddy Bolding Stadium will be one popular spot near the end of October.

The storied venue will host the Spooky Slugfest on Thursday, October 23, followed by the third annual "Battle of Farmville" fall ball matchup between Longwood baseball and Hampden-Sydney on Friday, October 24. Both events are free and open to the public!

The Spooky Slugfest—which starts at 6 p.m.—is the kookiest baseball game in town, and there is plenty of candy to boot afterwards thanks to the combined efforts of Longwood's athletic programs and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Fans will be treated to situations such as Mr. Potato Head taking ground balls from Mr. Incredible.

Or perhaps a giant pickle will track down a fly ball in the outfield and throw it to an inflatable kangaroo.

That's the joy of the Spooky Slugfest. Nobody knows what will happen! Then, after a few innings of whacky baseball, kids and families present will be invited to head down to the field to trick-or-treat by playing games with members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee from every sports team.

The North Street Press Club will have a food truck present with food available for purchase as well.

The following day, the Lancers will play Hampden-Sydney in an event that has quickly become a community staple: the Battle of Farmville.

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Buddy Bolding Stadium as the two teams take the field.

Both the North Street Press Club and the Amish Traditions food trucks will be present with food available for purchase as well.
