FAIRFAX, Va. — Karina Rizvanova and Elizaveta Gnilozubova both prevailed in extended third-set tiebreakers in singles action to help the Longwood women's tennis team earn a 4-1 road win over George Mason on Friday.

After that pair clinched the doubles point on court one with a 6-2 win over Cenan Liu and Lauren Splett, feline van Eijkelenburg topped Maitree Diksha Rout, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 2 to make it 2-0 for the Lancers.

Rizvanova then beat Liu from the top spot in the lineup. She won the first set, 6-2, Liu took the second, 6-3. Rizvanova then rebounded to take the deciding third set, 13-11.

George Mason's Maya Bayat kept the dual alive for the Patriots with a 7-6 (3), 2-6, 1-0 (4) victory over Phoebe Mitchell, but Gnilozubova clinched for the Lancers on four six.

She took the first set over Brooklyn Siegel, 6-0, but Siegel won the second, 6-4, to set up a tie breaking third when Gnilozubova outlasted her opponent, 12-10.

Oriana Izarra and Mitchell began the day with a 6-1 victory against Bayat and Lakshya Motam at No. 3 doubles.

Longwood moved 6-7 overall with the win, dropping Mason to 5-7 in the loss. The win snapped a three-match losing streak for Longwood against the Patriots.
