DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Longwood men's tennis team fell, 4-1, at Davidson in non-conference action on Sunday.
Alejandro Uribe earned the Lancers' point, beating Sebastian Carpio Moran in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4 singles, to knot the dual at 1-1.
The Wildcats (8-6), though, claimed the doubles point to start the day, winning on courts one and two, respectively.
Nico Pinzon and Gregorio Hidalgo topped
Timéo Puech and
Mauricio Gonzalez Paiva, 6-1, before Juan Carlos Perez Gongora and Uddayvir Singh defeated
Petar Belosevic and Petter Lindqust, 6-4.
Davidson took the lead as Perez Gongora beat Gonzalez Paiva at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Hidalgo then got past Belosevic, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 3 and the Wildcats clinched on court one when Singh defeated Puech, 7-5- 6-4.
The loss dropped Longwood to 3-6 on the season.
The Lancers are back in action Friday at George Mason at 1 p.m.
