FARMVILLE, Va. — The Longwood men's tennis team opened its home slate Saturday with a 7-0 win over Hampton in non-conference action on the New Lancer Courts.
Longwood, which improved to 2-4 with the victory, took the doubles point with wins on courts three and one, respectively.
Alejandro Uribe and
Petter Lindquist defeated Kevin Jorquera and Yanozie Amadike, 6-1, first before
Timéo Puech and
Mauricio Gonzalez Paiva topped Aryan Arora and Donte Armbrister, 6-4.
Longwood swept singles action. Puech dispatched Armbrister, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 followed by a 6-2, 6-2 win for
Petar Belosevic over Benedict Badza on No. 3.
Gonzalez Paiva then beat Amadike, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2 to give the Lancers a 4-0 lead.
Uribe got past Jorquera, 6-4, 6-4, on court four prior to Lindquist beating Arora, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 6.
Marko Mrdak closed the match with a three-set triumph over Marko Stoilkovski on court five. He won the final two sets after dropping the first, 5-7, coming back to win, 7-6, 10-7.
Hampton fell to 0-5 on the season with the loss.
Longwood is back in action Tuesday against Norfolk State. First serve is set for 2 p.m., in Farmville.
