Men’s Tennis Wins 16 Times at Hampton Hidden Duals

Longwood claims victories over Pirates, North Carolina Central, Morgan State

HAMPTON, Va. —In its final full-team event of the fall season, the Longwood men's tennis team won 11 singles matches and five doubles matches at the Pirate Hidden Duals at Hampton on Saturday.

The Lancers took on the host Pirates, North Carolina Central and Morgan State on the day.

Timéo Puech (6-4, 6-1), Ninad Raut (6-4, 6-0), Daniel Lopez (6-1, 6-1) and Alejandro Uribe (6-1, 6-1) each claimed singles victories in straight sets against NCCU. Daniel Borisov (6-1, 6-3), Lopez (7-5, 6-4) and Petter Lindquist (6-2, 6-2) did the same against Morgan State. Gary Huang posted a 6-0, 6-2 win over Hampton's Benjamin Mwanza.

In double action, Puech and Borisov (6-3), Uribe and Lopez (6-2) and Petter Lindquist and Rufus Plane (6-1) beat North Carolina Central. 

Puech and Borisov (7-5) and Uribe and Lopez (6-2) also defeated Morgan State.

After winning the Big South individual singles title last Sunday, Puech will compete in the ITA Conference Masters Championship in San Diego with a chance to advance to the NCAA individual championship next week. That event gets underway on Thursday.
