HOW IT HAPPENED:

Charleston Southern (5-6-4, 2-3-1) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead behind goals from Sedona Dancu and Jenea Knight in the first 15 minutes.

However, Longwood bounced back thanks to three goals from subs in the opening 45 minutes. Sam Fischer slotted home her seventh goal of the season to get Longwood on the board in the 18th minute off a pass from Taylor Hoag.

Madison Fitzpatrick pounced for her third goal of the season in the 36th minute to even the match off a feed from Harper Morrison, and Sunny Ferren gave Longwood a 3-2 lead in the 42nd minute with her first collegiate goal. Remi Siner had the helper.

After halftime, the Lancers put the game to rest behind goals from Peyton Curney and Claire Schultz. Hoag and Siner again had assists to give each two assists on the day.

WHAT THEY SAID:

"Wow! That was one of the most amazing things I've seen in my 32 years coaching here," said Longwood Head Coach Todd Dyer. "To go down two goals, on the road, and then respond with five unanswered goals of our own…that's just an incredible gut check and response. I'm so happy for our players, especially to see their love and commitment to each other pay off."

"So many players contributed today," Dyer added. "The bench was electric throughout, and that made a huge difference."

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
  • Longwood had five different players score a goal.
  • The game was Hoag's first multi-assist effort
  • The two assists were Siner's first two collegiate assists
  • The assist for Morrison was her first collegiate assist
