Acker, Sheehan Join Longwood Sports Performance Staff

Duo Added as Lancers Gear Up for Fall

FARMVILLE, Va. – Josh Acker and Danny Sheehan have joined the Longwood sports performance staff, the athletic department announced.
 
Acker comes to Longwood from Drake University, and Sheehan worked most recently at Lindenwood. Acker will work with baseball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's outdoor track. Sheehan will work with softball, women's lacrosse, field hockey, and men's and women's cross country.
 
"We are thrilled to welcome both Josh and Danny to Lancer Nation and the greater Farmville community," said Longwood Director of Sports Performance Luke Toburen. "They bring a wealth of knowledge and will be incredible assets, enhancing our student athlete's experience in athletics and beyond."
 
At Drake, Acker was an assistant performance coach who worked with women's tennis, men's golf, and the cheer team, and he was the lead assistant for women's soccer and softball. He also helped with football and chipped in with men's and women's basketball.
 
Prior to Drake, Acker worked at Elon as a seasonal assistant with baseball. He obtained his master's at Cameron University, where he worked with baseball, men's golf, and men's and women's tennis in his two seasons.
 
He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and is also certified in first aid and CPR.
 
Sheehan worked as an athletic performance graduate assistant at Lindenwood. While at Lindenwood, he oversaw strength and conditioning for men's ice hockey, women's rugby, field hockey and tennis while also assisting with baseball.
 
He has also worked as a strength coach for the Chaminade College Prep football team as well as Elite Baseball Academy.
 
As an undergraduate, Sheehan graduated with his bachelors degree from DePauw University, where he was a two-sport athlete. He earned all-conference honors as a football player, and he was an Academic All-District selection in both baseball and football.
 
He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
