UNC Asheville Blanks Men’s Soccer at Home, 4-0

Four goal scorers lift Bulldogs in Farmville

FARMVILLE, Va. — UNC Asheville received goals from four different players, pulling away with three after halftime, to post a 4-0 shutout victory over the Longwood men's soccer team in Big South action on Saturday.

The Bulldogs got goals from Conor Behan in the 40th minute, Edvin Grolimund in the 64th, Benian Yao in the 70th and Brendan Herb in the 76th to improve to 6-3-3 overall and 2-2-1 in the league. The win for Asheville vaults the Bulldogs over the Lancers in the conference standings with seven points.

Asheville carried a 16-8 advantage in shots for the match and 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Longwood goalkeeper Max Hinke made seven saves in the loss, marking his third consecutive outing with at least seven stops.

Behan bent a ball into the upper-right corner off of corner kick for the opening goal didn't look back from there. 

Charlie Farrar earned the clean sheet in goal making a save on a 90th-minute bid from Mateo Nance, anchoring a solid defensive effort for UNC Asheville.

Longwood (4-9-5, 3-2-3) returns to action Tuesday at 10th-ranked Duke on ACC Network Extra. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m., from Koskinen Stadium.
