HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Lancers got off to a strong start as the two sides battled in doubles. Guillermo Cagigas and Luis Reis edged Christopher Johns and Devon Moskowitz 7-5. Meanwhile, the young duo of Gary Huang, a freshman, and Lukas Krause, a sophomore, gritted their way past Harrison Gwynn and Tymofiy Khrystyuk in a tiebreak. The duo won the tiebreaker 7-3 to break the 6-6 tie.

In singles, Krause picked up Longwood's first singles win at the No. 5 spot. Reis lost a heartbreaker at No. 4 singles after going to three sets against Moskowitz for the Lancers.

WHAT THEY SAID:

"The men played well and showed a lot of heart in the doubles, saving match points to get the doubles point." said Longwood Director of Tennis Adam Jackson. "We have some work to do, but I'm proud of the way they competed today."

UP NEXT:

The Lancers have an extended break before hitting the courts again, as they travel to Elon on Wednesday, Feb. 15 to take on the Phoenix. The match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
