Longwood University Athletics

Pinehurst, N.C. – Longwood Men's Golf finished tenth in the Forest Creek Collegiate located in Pinehurst, N.C. This 71 par, 6,925-yard course hosted 11 teams to compete in the two-day tournament. The weather allowed all participants to complete both rounds after poor conditions in the day prior.

Sophomore Nick Rakes led the lancers with an impressive showing, he shot 74-71--145 (+2) in the tournament. He finished top ten, tied for sixth out of 72 participants. Fellow Lancer Payo Larrain scored 76-73--149 (+5). He finished the contest in 22^nd place.

Christian Michael finished the day tied for 48^th in the tournament, he scored 81-73--154 (+10). Ryan Hammer shot 85-71--156 (+12), which made him tied for 57^th place on the day. Brendan Dunphy tied for 64^th place in the tournament, he shot 76-78--154 (+14). Scott Jordan placed 70^th in the contest and scored 82-81--163 (+19).

"Knowing that we would have just one element to deal with today, there's no doubt scoring would be much better.  We were very close today.  It's unfortunate that we didn't get another score, but the way that a few of us bounced back is definitely a good sign.  We just got caught up in too many uncontrollable's during yesterday's round, and, to get where we want to go, we have to learn to let those things go."

The Lancers are back in action March 28th at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va.
