Loretto, Pa. – The Longwood Women's tennis team was on the road in Loretto, Pennsylvania on January 29^th, to take on the Saint Francis University Red Flash. Saint Francis beat the Lancers by a final score of 5-2.

In doubles, the No.1 pairing for the Lancers (0-3) of senior Emma Nurgazieva and freshman Karina Rizvanova picked up the victory against the Red Flash's pairing of Dominique Yeo and Anouk Ma-Ajong, 6-4. The No.2 doubles team for the Lancers of junior Maria Saez and freshman Wiktoria Czeryny fell to Saint Francis's (2-1) Bente Vandeputte and Anoek Pruijmboom by a score of 6-4. Longwood No.3 doubles team of sophomores Nina Hederich and Zoe Barton had a similar result, falling 6-4, when facing the Red Flash's Romina Cutipa and Marie Discini, giving Saint Francis the doubles point.

Emma Nurgazieva rallied for the victory over Domonique Yeo in comeback fashion in No.1 singles 5-7, 6-3, 10-3. Karina Rizvanova defeated Saint Francis' Romina Cutipa in No.4 singles, winning 6-3, 6-1. Both wins for Nurgaizeva and Rizvanova are their first of the season. The win for Rizvanova marks her first collegiate win as a Lancer.

Saint Francis' No.2 Anouk Ma-Ajong beat Longwood Maria Saez 7-6, 6-2. Longwood Freshman Wiktoria Czerny fell in the No.3 singles match against Bente Vandeputte 6-3, 6-1. Fellow sophomores Nina Hederich and Alexandra Hincu fell in No.5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Their losses came to the Red Flash's No.5 Valeria Vinces and No.6 Anoek Pruijmboom.

The Longwood Women's tennis team plays again Friday, February 4^th when they travel to Lynchburg, Virginia to take on Liberty University.
