ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Christian Michael's 72 (+1) moved him into a tie for 12^th, as the Lancers currently sit 10^th in the Sea Palms Invitational at Sea Palms Resort.
 
Michael racked up seven birdies on Friday, including two of his first three holes in a hot start to his second round. His 10 birdies through two rounds rank second in the field, trailing just leader and Georgia State ace Josh Edgar's 11 in 36 holes. With a two day card of 71-72—143, he trails third place by just four strokes on a crowded leader board.
 
Joining Michael in the top-30 are both Nick Rakes and Brandon Weaver, who sit at 148 (+8) and in a tie for 30^th in the 88 player field. Rakes dropped in four birdies on Friday, as he shot 38 on both the front and back nine. Weaver added a birdie of his own, while not conceding worse than bogey on any hole—the graduate senior has recorded just one hole worse than bogey through 36 holes.
 
The course played significantly tougher in round two, as the average score inflated from 73.99 to 76.97 on day two with no team breaking a team score of 290. The Lancers have battled to stay in the mix, in large part to their dominance on par-five holes. Through two rounds, they have averaged scores of just 4.73 (-11) to rank second in the field behind just third-place Appalachian State.
