ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Brandon Weaver fired a season-best 69 (-2), Christian Michael dropped in a hole-in-one, and the Lancers sit eighth out of 16 teams through one round at the Sea Palms Invitational at Sea Palms Resort.
 
A returning graduate student with two top-10 finishes in 2019-20, Weaver sits T-13 in the 88 player field through 18 holes. His day included a three-under par front nine, where he notched a birdie and eagle while surrendering just one bogey. He ended his round with four holes under par, while conceding back just three strokes.
 
Joining Weaver in the top-30 are Christian Michael and Nick Rakes. Michael, making his season debut, shot an even-par 71, highlighted by an ace on the par-three, 179-yard sixth hole. He would eagle again two holes later, carding a three on the par-five eighth hole to end his round in T-22.
 
Rakes, a freshman in his second career event, also picked up an eagle on the 518-yard eighth hole, matching the feat done by both Weaver and Michael as he fired a 72 (+1) and sits in a tie for 27^th after one round. The four Longwood eagles lead the field, doubling the next closest teams in Morehead State and Kennesaw State who each tallied two.
 
Daniel George, making his second-consecutive appearance for Longwood, fired a 74 (+3). Miles Parroco rounded out the Lancer lineup, ending with an 80 (+9) after 18 holes.
 
Kennesaw State leads the field at 275 (-9), highlighted by a tie for first between Luke Phillips and Takafumi Shimoji, who both carded 66 (-5). Longwood's 286 (+2) trails fourth place by just three strokes in a crowded leader board.
