Huffman Leads Women's Golf after First Round at Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Led by
Grace Huffman's opening-round 74, Longwood women's golf kicked off their 2021 season at the Kiawah Island Classic.
Tabbed the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country with 210 individuals competing for 41 different teams, Huffman finished tied for 20
th after 18 holes Sunday. The junior led Longwood with three birdies, including two-consecutive on holes three and four, while never conceding worse than a bogey.
As a team, the Lancers sit in 31
st in a tight leader board. Freshman
Emma Landis, who is making her debut at the event, fired a two-birdie, 78 (+6) in her first collegiate appearance, good for 93rd.
Diana Domenech closed at 79 (+7), falling in at 116
th of 210 competitors at the end of the first round.
Longwood racked up nine total birdies, led by Huffman's three. Landis, Domenech, and
Bobbi Uhl all recorded two apiece, as Uhl finished her round in the top-25 in par three scoring, averaging an under-par 2.80 on Sunday. The Lancers also had two golfers in the top-30 of par four scoring in Domenech (4.00) and Huffman (4.13)—as a team, Longwood finished averaging 4.48 (+19) on par fours in the opening round.
