RICHMOND, Va. – If it's about how you finish, Longwood men's tennis's final day at the River City Tennis Open couldn't have gone any better.
 
Along with an unbeaten run through the doubles purple flight by senior Rosen Naydenov and freshman Luis Reis, the Lancers pulled off a clean sweep of their four singles matches and two doubles bouts in their final run at the two-day tournament. For the weekend, the Lancers went 6-6 in singles and 4-2 in doubles.
 
Naydenov and Reis, who went 2-0 against their three-team field on day one of the tournament Friday, polished off their perfect showing Saturday with a 6-1 takedown of Villanova's Alex Kim and Ryan Nguyen. That final win made the Lancer duo one of only five pairings to go 3-0 in the tournament, which is annually the largest Division I event in Virginia.
 
Reis and senior Guillermo Cagigas also went 2-1 in their respective singles flights to take second place in each.
 
"I'm so proud of the guys for the way they are competing, and their improvement is visible each match," said Longwood first-year head coach Adam Jackson. "We played very well in every flight. Richmond did an amazing job with the tournament, and we look forward to this event each year."
 
Shortened one day due to expected inclement weather Sunday, the River City Tennis Open is the final tune-up for the Lancer men before the ITA Regionals on Oct. 14-17 in Lynchburg, Va.
