SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A strong two rounds from sophomore ace Emma Landis helped Longwood settle into a tie for ninth place on the first day of the Terrier Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford at the Carolina Country Club.
 
Landis, who has been Longwood's top finisher in each of the team's first two tournaments this fall, once again asserted herself as the frontrunner with a two-round score of 77-72—149 (+5). Her five-stroke improvement and even 72 in round two gave her the seventh-lowest second round on the day and the fifth-best two-round score by a Big South player at the event.
 
That performance also helped push Longwood squarely in the middle of the 17-team field and ahead of three other competing Big South teams in Winthrop and UNC Asheville and Presbyterian. One of six Big South teams competing at the two-day event on Wofford's par-72, 6,056-yard home course, the Lancers trail Gardner-Webb by one stroke for seventh place, while USC Upstate sits in third place at 15-over.
 
Behind Landis, sophomore Annabelle Jennings tied for 39th at 81-73—154 (+10) alongside freshman teammate Ester Choi's 76-78—154 (+10). Senior Grace Huffman tied for 60th with an 83-74—157 (+13), followed by senior Bobbi Uhl at 79-83—162, +18).
 
The final round of the 54-hole tournament will begin with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday.
