Lancers Improve Across the Board on Day Two at Edisto
Women's Golf
/
EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. – Sophomore
Emma Landis continued to lead the way for Longwood at the Edisto Island Invitational, shooting a second-round 72 on day two of the tournament at the par-71, 5,980-yard Plantation Course at Edisto Monday.
Â
Landis climbed seven spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 19th place with a second round that was among the top 10 performances at the 11-team, 68-player tournament hosted by College of Charleston. Her second-round 72 shaved two strokes off her first turn Sunday, bringing her two-day score to 74-72—146 (+3).
Â
Landis was one of seven Longwood golfers to improve her round-two score, which led to a six-stroke cut to the Lancers as a whole. That allowed Longwood to hold on to its seventh-place standing ahead of five other schools, including Morehead State, William & Mary, Oakland and The Citadel. The final 18 holes of the three-day, three-round tournament will take place Tuesday.
Â
Behind Landis, senior
Diana Domenech also enjoyed a two-stroke improvement and tied teammate
Grace Huffman for 33rd with matching 76-74—150 (+8) performances. Fellow senior
Bobbi Uhl followed one stroke behind alongside freshman
Ester Choi, both of whom carded a 76-75—151 (+9).
Â
Sophomore
Annabelle Jennings and freshman Erics Feuerhelm improved as well, with Jennings turning in a second straight sub-80 round at 78-77—155 (+13) and Feuerhelm finising 80-78—158 (+16).
