FARMVILLE, Va. – After the rest of the Longwood student body embarked on spring break, the Lancer men's tennis team made sure they had plenty of time to enjoy the first day themselves.
 
Making quick work of visiting Mount St. Mary's, Longwood (5-4, 0-1 Big South) swept the Mountaineers 4-0 in less than two hours Saturday morning at the Lancer Courts to open the 2020 spring break week with a second straight home win.
 
The one-sided win saw Longwood take an early 1-0 lead behind doubles victories at the top two spots before singles wins at two of the top three lines clinched the victory. The win pushed the Lancers back above .500 and improved their home record to 2-0 this season after a 7-0 win over Hampden-Sydney on Feb. 14.
 
Lancer standouts Amadeo Blasco and Guilherme Sergio fronted that charge at the top of the lineup, with both earning doubles wins and singles wins playing at the top two slots. Both of Blasco's wins came at No. 1, including his 6-0 doubles shutout alongside partner Guillermo Cagigas, while Sergio's came at No. 2, including a 6-2 doubles win with Marc Casasnovas.
 
Longwood did not drop a set in any of its wins in single play, with Blasco taking down Jackson Wood 6-1, 6-2, Sergio topping Jean Armstrong 6-1, 6-1, and freshman Ignacio Sandoval dispatching Marcel Cronin 6-3, 6-1.
 
Lancer freshman Ernest Rocabert was also on pace for a win at No. 5 after taking the opening set 6-4 and building a 4-0 lead in set two before his match was cut short after Longwood secured the fourth singles point.
 
Longwood will continue its five-match homestand Monday when North Carolina A&T comes to town for a noon first serve at the Lancer Courts. George Washington will then make the trip to Farmville Saturday, followed by home bouts against Big South foes USC Upstate on March 8 and Gardner-Webb on March 14.
