Miles Parroco Named Big South Men's Golfer of the Week

Men's Golf /
FARMVILLE, Va. - After leading Longwood in the Invitation at Savannah Harbor with a 75-72-73—220 performance, freshman Miles Parroco was named Big South Men's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Thursday afternoon.

The Golfer of the Week honor is the first of the season for Parroco and the fourth Big South weekly award for Longwood this season, as he received Freshman of the Week honors on Sept. 27, 2019 after a fifth-place finish in the Northern Kentucky Classic in the fall. Senior Teagan Stephenson was named Golfer of the Week same week in September, while fellow freshman Daniel George was dubbed Freshman of the Week on Oct. 25, 2019.

Playing at the Club at Savannah Harbor this past weekend, Parroco was below the average-round score threshold of the tournament in all three rounds on his way to a T-17th finish. In total, Parroco notched 10 birdies while accumulating just seven bogies, including a six-birdie final round. This weekend's performance was a career-best in team play for the Prospect, Ky. native, who finished fifth in the NKU Fall Collegiate Classic with a 68-68-77-213 card on Sept. 24, 2019 playing as an individual.

Parroco is one of four freshmen for head coach Kevin Fillman's Lancer squad, who will participate in three more tournaments prior to the Big South Championships starting on April 20, 2020.

Longwood has a couple of more weeks off until they are back in action, when they head to North Carolina for the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. The first round is set to kick off on Friday, March 6 at Pinehurst Resort.
