FARMVILLE, Va. – After carding top-five finishes at the Northern Kentucky Fall Classic, Longwood men's golfers
Teagan Stephenson and
Miles Parroco swept the Big South's weekly awards earning Golfer of the Week and Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Friday morning.
Â
Stephenson was named Big South Golfer of the Week for the first time in his career, earning that honor on the strength of a third-place individual finish at the two-day event in Union, Ky., at Elks Run Golf Course. Parroco, meanwhile, tied for fifth while competing as an individual.
Â
Stephenson and Parroco become the third Longwood duo to sweep the Big South men's golf weekly honors and the first since
Jordan Boulton and
Brandon Weaver won those awards on April 14, 2017.
Â
Stephenson's recognition followed his steady 71-70-71—212 (-1) on the par-71 course, which elevated the Lancers to a sixth-place team finish. Parroco, meanwhile, turned in a pair of under-par rounds in his second collegiate tournament, carding a 68-68-77—213 (E).
Â
Stephenson, Parroco and the Lancers will get a one-week break from competition this weekend to prepare for the upcoming Presbyterian/Musgrove Intercollegiate hosted by Big South rival Presbyterian in Clinton, S.C.
