ETTRICK, Va. -- Hopefully Longwood left room on the bus to bring back some extra hardware.

With singles flight titles from Yulia Almiron and Marija Venta, and doubles flight titles from Almiron and Emma Nurgazieva, and Venta and Crystal Nzewi, Longwood swept the awards at the three-day Dr. Robert Walter Johnson Memorial Invitational hosted by Virginia State at the VSU Tennis Complex.

Sunday's action saw Longwood punctuate a dominant three-day run with finals wins by the aforementioned Longwood quartet, who helped the Lancers amass a 12-4 singles record and a 7-2 mark in doubles for the weekend. Almiron's 6-2, 6-3 win over North Carolina A&T's Renata Ruiz Rabadan ran her tournament performance to 4-0, all of which were straight-set victories. Venta, meanwhile, defeated her counterpart from North Carolina A&T in comeback fashion, 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 to secure her B flight crown.​

Coupled with the Longwood men's team's wins in both singles flights -- Amadeo Blasco in A, and Rosen Naydenov in B -- and another doubles title, the Lancers reached all eight finals bouts and won seven of those. 

Almiron, along with partner Emma Nurgazieva, also took home the flight A doubles title, defeating Longwood teammates Jamie Bruenig and Marija Venta in the final.

Venta and doubles partner Crystal Nzewi also won the flight B doubles crown in a 6-0 victory over their foes from Hampton.

With their second fall tournament now in the books, the Lancers will get two weeks to prepare for their follow-up at the Jimmy Powell Invitational, hosted by Elon, beginning Oct. 5 in Elon, N.C.
