Breunig, Nurgazieva Impress as Lancers Close UMW Classic

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Jamie Breunig and
Emma Nurgazieva each improved to 3-0 in singles matches at the UMW Classic as Longwood women's tennis closed out its first action of the fall Sunday afternoon.
Yulia Almiron added a win for the Lancers in singles play.
Longwood ended day two of the tournament with a record of 11-7 in singles play, as they took on members of George Mason and Mary Washington over a two day round-robin style tournament.
Breunig defeated Jackie Nannery of George Mason 8-3, giving her three wins for the tournament. The senior did not drop a set in singles play the entire weekend.
Matching Breunig was teammate
Emma Nurgazieva, who defeated Mary Washington's Rachel Cooper 8-3, as she too tallied her third win. Nurgazieva dropped just six games across three singles victories at the UMW Classic.
After dropping her first match yesterday, junior
Yulia Almiron rallied to win her next two. She capped her tournament by defeating Rachel Summers of UMW on Sunday by a score of 8-3.
