FARMVILLE, Va. – Heading into the 2019-20 season, Longwood's athletics broadcasts operations are poised to take a significant step forward with a record number of broadcasts planned for the Big South Network on ESPN+. 

That increased streaming lineup begins in the fall with Longwood field hockey, men's soccer and women's soccer slated for a combined 31 broadcasts from August through November, including 27 from Longwood's campus. Those games will air live on ESPN+, a subscription-based sports broadcast platform available on most streaming devices.

Women's soccer kicks off coverage with a high-profile matchup against Atlantic 10 power VCU on August 25. Other non-conference broadcasts include a matchup with Charlotte on August 30 that serves as the culmination of Longwood's annual Greatest Athletics March Ever (The G.A.M.E.) as well as September showdowns against Howard (Sept. 2) and American (Sept. 13).
 
Men's soccer also features several high-profile, in-state matchups in the non-conference portion of their schedule. The Lancers will host VMI (Sept. 11), perennial Colonial Athletic Association power James Madison (Sept. 24) as well as George Mason (Oct. 1).
 
Field hockey's daunting non-conference schedule will feature exciting non-conference matchups throughout the season capped by a pair of games versus in-state foes. On Sept. 29, the Lancers will host ACC powerhouse Virginia to close the month and shortly after will square off against a powerful Liberty squad on Oct. 13 in a rematch of Longwood's historic 2-1 win in 2018. 
 
Plus, Lancer fans can catch Big South action for all three sports. Women's soccer hosts in-state rival Radford on Oct. 2 before closing their home slate with perennial Big South power High Point on Oct. 23. Men's soccer has a pair of crucial conference matches with Presbyterian (Oct. 5) and High Point (Oct. 19), bookending its home conference matches in the month. All three field hockey matches in MAC play are on the broadcast schedule: Central Michigan (Sept. 20), Appalachian State (Oct. 12) and Ball State (Oct. 25).

Longwood's expanded broadcast schedule is in tandem with a conference-wide increase by all Big South schools. An unprecedented number of contests will be carried by each member institution on ESPN+ as part of the conference's broadcast partnership with the worldwide leader in sports. Longwood will also broadcast every home men's and women's basketball game, along with an increased number of spring broadcasts for Lancer baseball, women's lacrosse and softball. Those streaming lineups for winter and spring will be unveiled later in the fall.
