FARMVILLE, Va. – The final round of Longwood athletics' first annual Farmville's Got Talent competition will take place at halftime of this Saturday's 3 p.m. men's basketball game against Big South rival Radford in Willett Hall.
From the original cast of contestants, finalists Cathy Allen-Williams, Shatina Ford and Remir Parker received the most votes from Longwood's crowd in the first round on Jan. 15 and will represent the best Farmville has to offer in Saturday's winner-take-all final.
The winner will be selected by a special panel of guest judges, including Farmville Mayor David Whitus '83, Farmville Town Manager Gerry Spates, Commonwealth's Attorney Megan Clark '05 and Longwood Athletics Director
Troy Austin.
Allen-Williams, Ford and Parker all advanced to the final round on the strength of spirited renditions of their favorite songs and will once again put their singing talents on display Saturday. Allen-Williams earned her ticket to the finals by singing Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You." Ford advanced with an a capella version of Christina Aguilera's "I Turn to You." Parker moved on to the final three by covering Meghan Trainor's "Like I'm Gonna Lose You."
All three will debut new songs in Saturday's final, which begins at halftime at Longwood's 3 p.m. tipoff against Radford.
