FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University sophomore women's soccer standout
Lindsey Ottavio|Fairfax (W.T. Woodson) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Women's Soccer Offensive Player of Week for her efforts last week during two wins by the Lancers. Ottavio scored three first-half goals for her first career hat-trick to lead Longwood to a 6-0 shutout past Southern Conference opponent Elon University September 17, tallying goals at 3:27, 19:50, and 33:41 against the Phoenix who had entered the match with five-straight wins. She followed that effort with an assist during a 2-0 road victory at Big South Conference member Radford University Sept. 19. The second-year forward leads the Lancers (6-4) with 10 goals and one assist for 21 points, and is tied for first nationally this week in Division I goals scored along with Alex Morgan at California and Christen Press at Stanford. Ottavio also ranks second in total points behind Press (23). Lindsey is the daughter of Patty and Chuck Ottavio of Fairfax. Longwood will play again this Friday night, September 24, hosting Big South Conference school and in-state rival Liberty University at the Athletics Complex in Farmville beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
