WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Longwood University dropped a 1-0 women's soccer road decision at Howard University Tuesday night in Washington, D.C.. The Lancers are now 8-8-1 overall, while the Bison improved to 4-8-2 overall. Longwood has just one final contest remaining this Sunday, November 1, as NJIT visits the Athletics Complex in Farmville for Senior Day beginning at 3 p.m.. Admission is free.
Longwood and Howard were scoreless at the intermission before Retha Koefoed scored the only goal of the match at 59:03 of the second half. Koefoed was assisted on the winning goal by Alexis Banks.

Longwood took a 14-6 advantage in shots, including 7-2 in attempts on-goal, and had a 3-2 edge on corner kicks as well. Junior

Kyra Byron/Richmond (Mills E. Godwin) played the entire match in front of the net for the Lancers with one save. Chanel Bell played the duration for Howard with seven saves en route to the shutout. The Bison defeated Longwood for just the second time in 10 overall meetings since 2003.
